Early Season Red

These are red slicing tomato varieties with early maturity, usually with a maturity between 45 and 65 days. This means they can be grown in very short season areas and can be grown as an early succession to main season varieties in areas with a full growing season. Many of the varieties in this class are indeterminate and will continue to ripen fruit all summer long, they just start early. Others are more determinate in their habit and yield a big flush or two of ripe fruit. This is convenient for those who want to plant a rotation of salad or other short season crop after the tomatoes are finished in the fall. They also need less caging or trellising.
