Garlic, Nootka Rose
Nootka Rose has become a favorite softneck variety on organic farms throughout the northwest. Beautiful white skin with rose colored clove wrapers and long necks that are perfect for braiding. The late maturity of this variety, compared to other softneck and hard neck garlics, may contribute to its better tolerance to rust in the spring. The bulbs can range from medium large to large and the flavor is appropriately strong. The medium sized bulbs can store very long and even up to a year under the right conditions. This heirloom originates from Waldron Island, Washington.
Minimum bulb size for our seed garlic is at least 2.25 inches across, though many are larger. Average 5 - 7 bulbs per pound.
Currently transitional organic, not yet certified. Next year we hope to be certified organic.
Garlic seed ships in September and October, for planting in October.
