Garlic, Silver Rose
Another great late maturing softneck garlic. Why? you might ask, all the late maturing softneck types? Because they store very very well, are great for braiding and seem to show more resistance to the rust fungus that has been plaguing garlic in the maritime northwest for the past few years. While most of our hardneck varieties got hit hard by the rust, the late softnecks seemed to pull through just fine. This variety is smooth white outside with rose colored clove wrappers inside. Popular throughout the US and Europe for a production garlic because of its storability and its uniform shape with few funny shaped bulbs. Has good long stems perfect for braiding. 12-15 cloves with 6-8 large cloves per bulb.
Minimum bulb size for our seed garlic is at least 2.25 inches across, though many are larger. Average 5 - 7 bulbs per pound.
Currently transitional organic, not yet certified. Next year we hope to be certified organic.
Garlic seed ships in September and October, for planting in October.
