Shelling Pea, Desirée

New for 2012  Dutch Capucijners type. Nice bushy 3' plants do not require support. High yields of large peas held in very dark purple leathery pods. Colorful flowers are large and very pretty in pairs. Not the best raw-shelled as they are starchy and firm, but very sweet and tasty when cooked fresh. Possibly Dutch or French origin, sold by Vreeken's Zaden in the Netherlands. Our original seed came from the Heritage Seed Library in England.
