Rutabaga, Major Dunne - Back in 2013
Nice purple top rutabaga with smooth uniform shape and yellow skin. One of the most attractive rutabagas we have grown. They can get very large and retain excellent texture and flavor, with the bulbous roots just at or above the soil surface. This trait makes it a very nematode resistant variety.
A once standard commercial variety from Northern Ireland originating in Scotland. Introduced in 1959. Now dropped from the European seed trade. Probably named in honor of an early flying machine pioneer before WWI, Major John William Dunne. May also be known as Doon Major. Given to the Seed Ambassadors Project by the Irish Seed Savers.
Will be back in 2013. Sorry for any inconvenience, biennials take a long time to make seed.
