Beet, Ukrainian

Back for 2012  Dark red beet with elongated cylindrical tendencies. Good fresh in salad or for storage and it is great in borscht. If allowed to grow into a giant, this beetroot (as the English call it) will stay tender and can provide through winter. We dig them up, cut the tops and store them in buckets or totes with dry sawdust. They keep this way into the spring. Given to The Seed Ambassadors Project by the Heritage Seed Library, England. An heirloom originally from Ukraine. Seed lot grown by the Boydstons in Brownsville, Oregon.

3 g packet ≈ 200 seeds.  $3.00
