Calendula, Resina
Calendula officinalis. 60-70 days. Possibly the finest strain for medicinal use and highly productive too. The medium-sized flowers have two rows of resin-rich petals and small centers. Plants may have either soft orange or bright yellow flowers. We love to sprinkle our salads with their aromatic, edible petals. You can tell they are rich in soothing properties when your fingers soften from touching them. Fairly hardy in our climate, they often overwinter to produce very early blooms in the spring and sometimes an occasional bloom in the dead of winter if given a good sheltered location. Often called Pot Marigold in England.
