Quinoa, Temuco (Organic)

(1 customer review)

$3.50$30.00

Chenopodium quinoa. 100-110 days.

High yielding of orange seed heads. Open head shape is less prone to molding in seed heads than other quinoa varieties. We have heard that it is the most popular quinoa in England, suggesting it does well in cool, damp climates. This variety is from Temuco in southern Chile, an area with a relatively low elevation for quinoa production (1,180′ instead of 10,000’+).

Transplanted from jiffy pellets. Plants were rather leggy and abused but once they got in raised beds they took off. Big robust stalks held up well to the wind and were surprisingly quick to mature ~ 90days after transplant. This was the first time growing quinoa in this garden and apparently we have a quinoa aphid – my plants were infested.
