Arugula, Tuscan (Organic)

Eruca sativa. 24 days baby, 40 days full.

Big thick leaves with excellent flavor and very cold hardy. For those who like their arugula to have a little kick, Tuscan has a spicier flavor than common varieties such as Astro. Some plants have strap-like leaves, others are lobed. Seed Ambassador Kayla Preece collected this variety from Agricultori Custodi, a seed preservation group in Tuscany, Italy.

Seed produced by Avoca in Corvallis, Oregon.

As required by the Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Washington Crucifer Quarantine, all Brassica family seed lots have been tested and found negative for blackleg (Phoma lingam) by an approved, certified lab.

Geographical Origin

Sow in pots indoors Feb. through Sept. Transplant 3-4 weeks after sprouting. May be direct sown in early spring or late summer. Great choice for winter gardens in our region, but does not do well in summer heat. Bolts quickly; sow in succession for extended harvest. Flowers are edible.

Seed Saving

Collect seeds from spring sown plants, selecting for slowest bolting. Cut seedheads when seeds are dry, thresh by hand or by dancing, winnow to clean. Isolate from other arugula by ½ mile.

Where did you grow this variety? Oregon

This arugula is amazing, it grew lushly all winter and bounced back from being covered in snow twice to become 4.5 oregon ft tall beautiful cream colored flowers. it is delicious, spicy and productive and I cant say enough good things. Thank you!
