Aster, Valkyrie Brunhilde Chamois (Organic)
Callistephus chinensis. 95 days.
Captivating, pale pink/apricot blossoms with needle-like petals resemble sea anemones. Valkyrie Brunhilde Chamois Asters make a fabulous late summer bloom, and they might have the greatest name ever given to a flower. Stunning flowers grow to 5.5” across and form on short, sturdy plants that grow to 2.5’ tall. Don’t let the delicate appearance deceive you – flowers and stems are durable and hold up well in the garden and in the vase. Late to mature but well worth the wait! We have selected these to have a uniform color and petal type.
Direct sow after danger of frost or sow indoors 6 weeks before last frost to transplant after danger of frost for earlier blooms. Thin plants to 12″ centers. Deadhead to prolong bloom. Prefers full sun.
Seed Saving
Collect seeds from flower heads that are fully dry. Thresh by hand or by dancing, winnow to clean. Finish air-drying if necessary before sealing in airtight container. Some cross-pollination may occur; if saving seed, isolate from other varieties of the same species by 1/4 mile.
