Rosso di Sulmona Garlic (Organic)
Creole type
Rosso di Sulmona is a highly sought after Italian garlic variety often simply referred to as “Aglio Rosso”. Flavor is said to be delicate (even sweet for a garlic) and there are many claims of it being the best flavored garlic in Italy or even the world. While we think this is probably classic culinary hyperbole or some fun poetic license — which we may also be guilty of from time to time — we do think it is truly delicious and is a great all-purpose garlic. Excellent long storage life similar to other creole type garlic varieties. May bolt like a hardneck, depending on location and growing conditions. Grows well in warm climates. Originated near the town of Sulmona, which is in the Abruzzo region of central Italy and is famous for its annual garlic festival.
Rosso di Sulmona seed garlic minimum bulb size is 1.75″ diameter. Average 6-7 bulbs per pound, 7-9 plantable cloves per bulb.
No international orders.
