St. Helens Seed Garlic (Organic)
Softneck Silverskin type
Softneck variety from western Washington State. A family heirloom named after Mount St. Helens that grows very well for us, similar to other silverskins. St. Helens is later to dry down and stores well for many months. Clove size is consistently larger than other softneck silverskin types. Has tolerated rust pressure for us, enough to make nice big bulbs. White wrappers and long stems make it our preferred choice for garlic braids. Flavor is hot when raw and mellows to a rich nutty flavor when roasted.
St. Helens seed garlic minimum bulb size is 1.75″ diameter. Average 7 bulbs per pound, 6-8 plantable cloves per bulb.
Seed produced by Myrtle Creek Farm in partnership with Garlicana in Douglas County, Oregon.
No international orders.
GARLIC IS SOLD OUT FOR 2025

Separate cloves but do not peel. Plant each clove 2” deep, blunt end down, from October through February. Space plants 6-8” apart in rows 1’ apart. Apply extra fertilizer in March.
Harvest bulbs in mid-July, when roughly 1⁄2 of the leaves are still green. Brush soil off of roots and hang in well-ventilated, shady spot to cure.

Where did you grow this variety? Washington
I love this garlic, it grows so easily and with such large cloves! I’m on my fourth year of growing it, and I’m so smug to hang it in a braid in my kitchen every year.
