Jupiter Seed Garlic (Organic)

Hardneck Marbled type

Jupiter is the most impressive garlic we have come across in a long time. Large, beautifully purple marbled bulbs contain an average of 4-6 big, dense, sulfurous cloves. The raw flavor is bold and pungent while not being super hot. When cooked Jupiter keeps that garlicky richness common to marbled types. Plants are impressively sized throughout their growth cycle (and are fairly massive at green garlic stage). Notably robust roots help make Jupiter productive even under adverse conditions. Jupiter is a little later to mature than other varieties, but big juicy scapes/whistles are tasty in the meantime. The mid-late harvest timing provides excellent yields and the bulbs will reliably keep for 7-8 months once cured. Our good friend Avram at Garlicana introduced us to this variety and we’re so glad to have been able to grow enough to share!

Jupiter Seed Garlic minimum bulb size is 1.75 inches across. Average 9-10 bulbs per pound, 4-6 cloves per bulb.

Separate cloves but do not peel. Plant each clove 2” deep, blunt end down, from October through February. Space plants 6-8” apart in rows 1’ apart. Apply extra fertilizer in March.

Harvest bulbs in mid-July, when roughly 1⁄2 of the leaves are still green. Brush soil off of roots and hang in well-ventilated, shady spot to cure.
