Russian Giant Seed Garlic (Organic)
Hardneck Marbled type
Russian Giant is a lovely purple hardneck marbled type garlic with a size that truly lives up to its name. Large plants produce giant bulbs and cloves. Easily out-yielded every other garlic in our field in 2026, in spite of being planted six weeks later! Bulbs can reach over 3″ diameter and weigh up to 4oz when grown under ideal conditions. Tight clove wrappers enable this variety to store longer into the winter compared with many other hardneck types. Russian Giant originally came from Kungur, Russia, in the Ural Mountains.
Minimum bulb size is 2″ diameter. Average 6-7 bulbs per pound, 4-6 cloves per bulb.
Seed produced by Myrtle Creek Farm in partnership with Garlicana in Douglas County, Oregon.
No international orders.

Separate cloves but do not peel. Plant each clove 2” deep, blunt end down, from October through February. Space plants 6-8” apart in rows 1’ apart. Apply extra fertilizer February-March.
Harvest bulbs in mid-July, when roughly 1⁄2 of the leaves are still green. Brush soil off of roots and hang in well-ventilated, shady spot to cure.
