Tomato, Magic Bullet (Organic)

Solanum lycopersicum. Indigo Striped Plum. 70 days. Indet.

Magical colors and flavors are packed into these spectacular plum-shaped fruits that are perfect for snacking. Magic Bullet tomato is unlike any other tomato we have ever seen or tasted. It’s as if all the colors and flavors of giant heirlooms and sweet cherry tomatoes are concentrated into a two bite explosive package! Or if gushers candies were actually good, 10 x larger, and tasted like tomatoes. The colors of the fruit are a psychedelic carpet ride on the outside and a melting gemstone swirl on the inside. Vigorous indeterminate plants yield fruit with a firm texture that are resistant to cracking and Blossom End Rot. Guaranteed to knock your socks off. This modern day open pollinated tomato marvel was developed by Steve Peters and Kanti Rawal of Seed rEvolution Now! Highly recommended for market growers, as the fruit is delicious, fills pints quickly, keeps very well and is distinctive enough to keep customers coming back for more.

Geographical Origin

Sow indoors in flats with good potting soil as early as February, but no later than April. Keep warm and well-watered. Up pot seedlings into 4” pots once they have two true leaves. Transplant into the garden once danger of frost has passed.

Seed Saving

Collect seeds from ripe fruit by squeezing into a jar and add 25% more water. Wait a few days for mold to form. When seeds sink and gel-sac is gone, stir, add water, then decant and rinse to clean. Dry thoroughly. Tomatoes are mostly self-pollinating; isolation is not usually needed for seeds to be true to type.

This is a sweet larger snacking tomato that will burst in your mouth! It is also really nice to look at. It does grow like crazy and if you are not careful can take over an entire garden bed! I started the seeds inside and planted them after last frost date in my area. No use of pesticides or fertilizer just the 50/50 blend from our local soil company. Can’t complain!

These plants are absolutely sprawling and grew amazingly producing a fair amount of these dark purple fruits, my heavily amended compost soil is watered with some of the finest mountain water on the planet, sadly the visual appeal is the only attribute for this cultivar as it lacks flavor and takes forever to ripen, they are very firm and stay that way. Based on the flavor not worth the real estate it took up in my garden
