Sunflower, The Serah & Sarah Mix (Organic)
Helianthus annuus. 70-90 days.
A sunflower party, this collection is an evolving mixture of sunflower colors and growth habits that we have been curating since 2005. Selected over the years from various crosses and volunteers. Many are classic yellows as well as unique reds and a few lemon yellow types. But the real gems in the mix are long petaled bicolor yellow and red types that stop us in our tracks when we find them. Most are good cut flowers, but some plants grow to 12′ or more making harvest fun, albeit inefficient. This mix is our choice for naturalizing as they are particularly good at volunteering year after year.
| Geographical Origin |

Direct sow 1/2” deep after danger of frost has passed (mid-May). Thin to 18” for largest blooms, decrease spacing for smaller plants. Prefers full sun and protection from wind.
Seed Saving
Collect seeds from seed heads that are fully dry. Shell by hand, winnow or screen to clean. Highly cross-pollinating, for pure seed isolate from other sunflower varieties by 1/2 mile.

Where did you grow this variety? Washington
These think they are trees! I’ve never grown sunflowers before, so maybe that’s normal? The stems get as big around as my wrist! Started seedlings on 4/25/26, planted 5/19/26, and the first bloom appeared 7/18/26. For reference the garden bed is 16″ high and 8′ long.
